Christmas Colors

Wearing red and green together is kind of an iffy combo, unless it's Christmas. Power to you if you want to wear those colors together in June, but you're just going to end up looking like December. With that in mind, I decided to take full advantage of power color clashing (and apparently pattern clashing) to create this nod to festive outfit. I wore it for some Saturday shopping and noticed that not a lot of people dress in the Christmas spirit. They mostly wear giant coats and have a painted on scowl. Luckily I had enough Christmas cheer for the grumpy folks and was able to make some people smile with my presence. (I think they were smiling at me, or maybe they were just happy about what they just bought??)

I can't leave this post without talking about that house behind me in these photos. Doesn't it look like a postcard? I feel very lucky that they're my neighbors and I can just peek out my window and spy on it anytime I like.

siege and starvation in Zahra' and Nubl: Patrick Cockburn has been the most independent correspondent writing on Syria

"Unnoticed by the outside world, the largest single community currently besieged and on the edge of starvation in Syria lives in two Shia towns west if Aleppo, Zahraa and Nobl, with a combined population 45,000. In this case the besiegers are Sunni rebels who accuse the Shia townspeople of supporting the government of President Bashar al-Assad and are seeking to starve them into submission. Zahraa and Nubl form an isolated Shia pocket in an area where most of the people are Sunni supporting the rebels. The towns have received no supplies from the outside apart from an occasional delivery by a government helicopter. Raul Rosende, the head of the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Syria said: “We are concerned about the situation in Zahraa and Nubl where 45,000 people are under siege.” A few Shia have escaped into Turkey and then crossed back into Kurdish-controlled north-east Syria.
