We have millions of different excuses, but when it comes down to it, they're all one of these three. Read more »

The Godfather Guide To A Good And Happy Life

Image
Do you ever feel that you have so many 'life rules' thrown at you that you can’t even remember them, let alone make sense of them? You’re not alone in feeling like that. The ‘rules of life’ that have stuck most easily with me have come from movies – perhaps because they're not only visual, they're visceral. There is a scene in The Last Samurai where Katsumoto and Algren are about to advance to almost certain death and Katsumoto says: “Do you believe a man can change his destiny?’ Algren answers: ‘I believe a man does what he can until his destiny is revealed to him.’ There’s Buddha right there, a philosophy of life you can live by. Perhaps one of the greatest movies that provides some of the greatest rules for living well is The Godfather. Michael Corleone lived a Shakespearian tragedy. But if he had taken his own good advice and that of his family it might all have been so different: Here are 9 Corleone rules you could build a good and happy life on: Read more »

How To Take Control And Eliminate Your Bad Habits

Image
American lyricist Eubie Blake once said, “I don't have any bad habits. They might be bad habits for other people, but they're all right for me.” That's an attitude that might make you feel more relaxed, but it's not an attitude that will help you make the most of your personal and professional opportunities. The first thing you need to do to take conscious control and target your bad habits is to acknowledge their harmfulness. Believing there’s nothing you can do to fix them only postpones the damage these bad habits do to you. Read more »

Weight Loss Advice: Is a Calorie a Calorie?

Image
Do you believe that a calorie is a calorie? What I mean is, in terms of weight loss or gain, do you take the position that it doesn't matter where those calories come from? It would produce the same result anyway? Well, let's look at the fundamental truth here - the first law of thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Calories are simply a measure of energy. They therefore cannot be created, nor can they disappear. So if you eat something, you either burn it or you store it, right? Read more »

Image
I really wish things would change - I want to be happier – I’ve had enough! We all long to feel happy and can feel that something is just not working in our lives and that it isn’t right for us anymore. We usually know what would make us feel happier, even if we have a tendency to lie to ourselves; out of fear and the guilt of being selfish. We try to ignore it, or pretend that we don’t know to delay the truth, until we just can’t take it anymore… Change is scary… It is a step into the unknown, which can go hand in hand with the fear that we might hurt someone else if we think about ourselves - and “what if I fail and it wasn’t worth it!” So we self-sacrifice and use up the one commodity that it totally precious and irreplaceable - time, because we are afraid. Life is a Laboratory

by Jack Canfield Everyone has a dream. Many of us simply lose sight of it or let it go because of some earlier disappointment, rejection, or lack of progress.  The natural tendency is to protect ourselves from getting hurt again, so we deny our dream, afraid to reach out for the people, resources, and opportunities that could support it. I want to share a quick story about my friend
